It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a squad that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the opportunity.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy being given a platform to deliver her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her bow and seven global championships have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it was a disappointing period because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," said Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and after that the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself that way, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we know we can succeed."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

In recent days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this success coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was at that stage they left last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated through the pain.

However although she afterwards confessed those physical issues have pushed back plans to retire, this tournament is anticipated as her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as leader.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
